Carei is the second biggest town in the district, after the city of Satu Mare, and is 32km away on the route to Oradea.
     As archeological researches proved, the area was inhabited in the bronze age, as well as at the beginning of the 1st millennium; documents from 1320 mentioned its development especially in the 18th century, when its well known monuments were built.
     Worth seeing in Carei:
  • the monument of the romanian soldier, the work of the famous Vida Geza;
  • a castle turned into an archeological and science of nature museum;
  • middle age houses;
